What is material toughness?

Toughness is the ability of a material to deform plastically and to absorb energy before fracture in the process. It can be measured by tensile testing. The material with high toughness means that a lot of energy is absorbed before fracture. The key to toughness is a good combination of strength and ductility.

Properties of High Toughness Resin(3121)

It is an excellent engineering-grade material for 3D Printing face mask respirator, prosthetics, gauntlet, shoe soles, and sports products.

Both flexible and rigid

Face mask respirator 3D printed with 3121 resin, need a shell that fits comfortably on the face. So the material needs to be a rigid material with flexibility.


High impact toughness

3121 resin is a fracture-resistant resin material that is ideal for the manufacture of prostheses, gauntlet, shoe soles, and sports products.

A good combination of strength and ductility

Elongation at break percentage: 40-50%. 3D printed coils/springs using 3121 resin have high strength and high ductility.
